The BMW 507 is a German sports car, presented to the public for the first time in 1955. Serial production of this model was carried out in the years 1955-1959 - a total of 253 copies of this car were built in its course. The car was powered by a single, 8-cylinder engine with a capacity of 165 hp and a capacity of 3.2 liters. It allowed the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 km / h.
The BMW 507 has been developed as a roadster version of the 501 and 502 models in order to fill the market gap between the insanely expensive Mercedes 300 SL and the much cheaper sports cars of the Triumph and MG brands. The main market for the 507 model was to be the United States, annual production was also planned at the level of approx. 1,000 cars. The BMW 507 has been carefully designed and technically refined. It also had good performance. However, it turned out to be much more expensive to produce than originally assumed and it actually competed on the market with the Mercedes 300 SL, with which it could hardly win the competition. It was not designed for this purpose either! From a financial point of view, the BMW 507 turned out to be a catastrophic mistake that took BMW almost to the brink of bankruptcy.
The BMW i8 is a German sports car, presented to the public for the first time (still as a concept car) in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Serial production of this model started in 2014 and is still ongoing. It is concentrated at the BMW AG plants in Germany, in the city of Leipzig.
The BMW i8 is a true avant-garde car on many levels. First of all, it uses a hybrid system of gasoline and electric engines with a total power of 362 HP as the drive, which reduces fuel consumption to 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers! The car is also characterized by a well-balanced center of gravity, very good aerodynamic properties, as well as a body style adapted to this. Plastics reinforced with carbon fiber were used on a large scale in the creation of the body. The BMW i8 can accelerate to 250 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds. In Poland, the new BMW i8 costs about 570 thousand. zloty.
