RS Models 92207 NAA-64 P-2 "North"

North American NA-64 Yale (other indications: NA-64 P-2 or NAA-64 P-2) is an American low-wing training aircraft from the Second World War. The flight of the prototype took place in 1940, and the plane entered service in the same year. The length of the machine was 8.64 meters with a wingspan of 12.23 meters. The drive was provided by a single Wright R-975-E3 engine with a maximum power of up to 420 HP. The plane did not have permanent on-board weapons.

The NA-64 aircraft was developed at the North American Aviation plant on the order of the French Air Force (French Armee de l'Air), which sought to obtain an advanced training aircraft at the very beginning of World War II. The NA-64 was, in essence, a highly modernized NA-57 aircraft, and the main changes concerned the fuselage structure, its length, and the fact that it was made almost entirely of metal. A slightly more powerful drive unit was also used. It is worth noting that before its capitulation in the summer of 1940, it was possible to deliver about 110 aircraft to France, and the remaining approx. 120 manufactured machines were transferred from American factories to the Canadian military aviation, i.e. the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). where they served until 1946. It is worth adding that the NA-64s seized by the Germans were also used as training and training machines by the Luftwaffe.
