The official flag of the State of Israel, which is in force until today, was adopted on October 28, 1948, i.e. a few months after the declaration of independence by that state. It is called the Flag of Zion. Its official proportions are 8:11, which means that, for example, if it is 8 meters high, it must be 11 meters long. This flag refers to the flag considered to be one of the symbols of the Zionist movement, which began to be used in 1897. It shows the blue Star of David on a white field between the blue stripes at the bottom and top of the flag. The colors on this flag are of great importance. The white color symbolizes the Hebrew concept of Chesed, which is most often understood as grace and mercy. In turn, the blue color is a symbol of the Glory of Yahweh, but also of his severity. The flag of Zion is very often used in units of the IDF land army. It is worth remembering, however, that the official flag of the Israeli Navy and the official banner of the Air Force are not the same as the Flag of Zion, although they are associated with it through their symbolism.
