2A82-1M is a 125mm smoothbore tank gun from modern times of Russian production. It is a cannon that is seen as a successor to the previous main tank gun of the Russian Federation, i.e. the 2A46, and its further modernization. According to Russian sources, a new cannon The 2A82-1M has better accuracy than its predecessor, and its rate of fire is from 10 to 12 rounds per minute. It is worth adding that the 2A82-1M uses an automatic loader. The gun is designed primarily to fight enemy armored vehicles, which allows it to fire a wide range of anti-tank missiles, including: APDS (armor-piercing subcaliber shell with a throwing sabot), HEAT (anti-tank HEAT shell) or APFSDS (armor-piercing sub-caliber shell) stabilized on the edge with a rejected sabotage). However, it is assumed that the gun fires primarily APSFDS missiles, such as 2BM32 Bant, 3BM42 Mango or 3BM48 Swiniec, and its further modernizations from the beginning of the 21st century - Swiniec-1 and Swiniec-2. It is most often assumed that the Swiniec-1 missile fired from the 2A82-1M cannon is able to penetrate from 740 to 800 mm of tank armor inclined at an angle of 60 degrees from a distance of 2,000 meters, and the Swiniec-2 missile at the same distance is able to penetrate the armor tank with a thickness of 660 to 740 mm with the same slope. The 2A82-1M tank gun is the basic armament of the manufactured T-14 Armata vehicles. It is possible that it will also be introduced as the main armament for the modernized cars of the T-72 / T-90 family. However, this is only a guess.
