Special Hobby 72310 Avia C.2

The Avia C-2 was a Czechoslovak low-wing training aircraft from the post-war period. Serial production of this machine was carried out in the years 1954-1948 or 1949. The drive was provided by a single Argus Ar-410A-1 engine with a capacity of 465 HP. The length of the aircraft was 9.13 meters with a wingspan of 10.96 meters. The top speed did not exceed 310 km / h. The deck armament - in the C-2B version - consisted of a single 7.92 mm machine gun.

The Avia C-2 was de facto a relatively faithful copy of the German Arado Ar-96 aircraft from the Second World War, which was produced during this armed conflict in the then Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia at the Avia and Letov plants. The Ar-96 aircraft turned out to be a very good machine for intermediate and advanced training, and despite the emergence (after 1945) on an increasingly larger scale of jet aircraft, it could still fulfill its role. For this reason, it was decided to start production of the Avia C-2 machine. The plane was based on the Ar-96B machine, but it should be added that individual examples often differed from each other in terms of equipment. They also served as machines for training pilots of fighter machines, bombers, but also for night and instrument-only flights. Aircraft of this type began to be withdrawn in the mid-1950s, and Yak-11 took their place.
