The BL755 bomb is a British, free-fall, airborne cluster bomb with fragmentation and anti-tank subammunition from the Cold War period. The length of the bomb was 2.45 meters with a diameter of 419 millimeters. Its own weight is 246 kg - the bomb carried up to 147 sub-missiles. The BL755 bomb was developed in the 1960s and its production began in 1972 at the Hunting Engineering Limited facilities. The task of the bomb was to destroy the enemy's manpower, as well as his armored vehicles. Subammunition dropped with this bomb could penetrate steel armor up to 250 mm thick. The bomb, in line with the then RAF tactics, was adapted to low-altitude drops. A total of four main versions of the bomb were produced in the course of production: Mk.1 (basic version), Mk. 2, Mk. 3 and Mk. 4. The BL755 bomb could be carried by many types of aircraft, including the Phantom FGR.2, BAE Hawk and PANAVIA Tornado, among others. Due to its high combat value, it was also used by the aviation of India, West Germany, and later Serbia. At the turn of 2007/2008 it was replaced in the RAF by Brimestone missiles.
