The BMW 132 was a German aircraft engine from the interwar period and World War II produced by Bayerische Motor Werke AG (BMW for short). It was first tested in 1933. The engine - in the BMW 132 Dc version - weighed 525 kilograms with a displacement of 27.7 liters. It is estimated that over 21,000 units of this aircraft engine were built.

The BMW 132 was an air-cooled single star 9-cylinder engine. The engine was developed on the basis of the licensed American Pratt and Whitney R-1690 Hornet unit. A number of minor design changes were introduced in it, which together improved the stability of the engine's operation, as well as positively influencing its reliability. In general, however, the design differences between the two engines were not fundamental. Nevertheless, the engine of the BMW 132 from the moment of entering serial production, the engine was improved, which resulted in a systematic increase in maximum power. For example, in the 132A version it was 715 hp, in the 132Dc version it reached 838 hp, and in the 132J model it already reached 947 hp. The BMW 132 engine served as a power unit for several German aircraft of the interwar period and World War II. It powered such machines as: Arado Ar-196, Dornier Do-17P, and especially - Junkers Ju-52 and Focke-Wulf Fw-200 Condor.
