The BMW 3/15, affectionately known as Dixi, is a German passenger car that was presented to the public for the first time in 1928. Its serial production took place in the years 1929-1932. The car was powered - depending on the version - by one of two 4-cylinder engines with 15 HP or 18 HP. In total, approx. 16 thousand. cars of this model. The BMW 3/15 Dixi was the first mass-produced passenger car by Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, and its production was closely related to BMW's takeover of Fahrzeugfabrik in Eisenach in 1928. The BMW Dixi was a faithful, licensed copy of the British Austin Seven car. Compared to its predecessor, Dixi differed primarily in changes in the design and construction of the body. A novelty was the use of an all-steel, riveted steel body. The car turned out to be quite a commercial success, and even despite the Great Depression of 1929, it was one of the best-selling passenger cars in Germany. In addition to the basic version, there was also a combi version and a sports version called the BMW DA3 Wartburg.
