Revell 07361 BMW Z1

The BMW Z1 is a German roadster sports car that was presented to the public in 1987 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Its production was carried out in the years 1989-1991 - about 8,000 cars of this model were produced during it. The production took place at the BMW plant in Munich, Germany.

The Z1 model was developed and put into production in order to allow the BMW company to enter the roadster segment and to master as much of this part of the automotive market as possible. The Z1 model did not have a direct predecessor in the company's offer, and its distant "relative" was the 507. The BMW Z1 car uses a very unusual door opening mechanism, which made it hidden in the lower sills of the body! A 2.5-liter BMW R6 engine with a maximum power of 170 HP was used as the drive unit. Interestingly, in the BMW Z1, elements made of epoxy resin reinforced with, for example, glass fiber, were used on a large scale. Several elements - mainly the engine, suspension and gearbox - were borrowed from the BMW E30. The car, despite the initial considerable interest, achieved moderate market success and was replaced in the BMW offer by the Z3 model. The prices of a used BMW Z1 range from 20,000 to 50,000. euro.
