The Dacians are probably a people of Thracian origin, who in ancient times lived in areas close to the borders of today's Romania and partly Hungary. This people is documented in sources as early as the 6th-5th centuries BC, and both the eminent logographer of Hekataeus of Miletus and the "father of historiography" - Herodotus, writes about it. It can be assumed that they entered into political and military interaction with the Roman Empire, probably at the end of the 1st century BC. As a result of the war of AD 85-89 (led by Emperor Domitian) and the wars of AD 101-102 and 105-106 (led by Trajan), they were conquered by the Roman state. In the course of the above-mentioned wars, the Dacians created a highly militarized society, ruled in a monarchical manner. The basic armament of the Dak infantry was a weapon called the Falx. It was, depending on the version, a one-handed or two-handed slash weapon with a clearly curved blade and a handle made of wood. Many Danish warriors did not have more extensive defensive weapons in the form of a helmet or armor. The use of a two-handed falx also made it impossible to use a shield. Nevertheless, captured Roman helmets were used in the Dac army. There are many indications that Dak warriors tattooed their bodies.
