DISCONTINUED Valom 72010 Fisher P-75A Eagle

The Fisher P-75 Eagle was an American prototype WWII fighter aircraft. A prototype flight took place in 1943, but the machine never entered mass production. The machine was powered by a single V-engine Allison-3420-23 with a capacity of 2880 HP. The maximum speed of the aircraft reached 695 km / h, and the maximum range was to reach 3,300 kilometers.

The P-75 Eagle was commissioned by the US Air Force as an interceptor with the highest possible rate of climb. The Fisher company, which at that time was part of the General Motors Company, was responsible for its development and tests. The plane was based on many elements already used in American aircraft: the wings were from the P-51 Mustang, the landing gear from the F-4U Corsair, and the tail from the SBD Dauntless. However, the general concept of the machine was taken from the P-39 Aircobra. However, the role of the P-75 Eagle in 1943 was changed to an escort fighter, which necessitated changes in the design of the aircraft. Design works lasted until 1944, when the US Air Force - despite a successful test flight of the modified P-75 prototype - stated that it did not need new fighters, having such successful machines as the P-47 or P-51. In 1944, the entire program was canceled and the P-75 never entered mass production.
