The Focke-Achgelis Fa 225 was an experimental WWII German whirlwind. The flight of the only prototype took place in 1943. The machine, however, never entered mass production. The hull length of this machine was 11.26 meters, and the main rotor diameter was 12 meters. The maximum take-off weight oscillated around 2 tons, and the maximum towing speed did not exceed 190 km / h.
The Focke-Achgelis Fa 225 was designed with the German airborne troops in mind as a new, basic means of air transport. It used in its construction the fuselage of the successful DFS 230 glider and the rotor from the Fa 223 helicopter. A solid wheeled undercarriage in the classic configuration with a tail wheel was also added. The Ju-52 was used as a towing aircraft for this aircraft during the tests. Ultimately, however, the Focke-Achgelis Fa 225 did not enter mass production, although it mostly lived up to the hopes placed on it. The main reason for not introducing it to production was the concentration of the German arms industry on completely different tasks at that time (1943).
