The Jaguar was a French destroyer (another classification: destroyer) from the interwar period and World War II. The vessel was launched in November 1923, and in 1926 she was accepted into service with the French Marine Nationale. Its length at the time of launching was 126.8 meters and a width of 11 meters. Full displacement reached about 3,000 tons, and maximum speed - to about 35-36 knots. The armament included: 5 130 mm guns, 2 75 mm guns and 2 triple 533 mm torpedo tubes.

The Jaguar was one of the destroyers belonging to the Chacal class (also known as the Jaguar class). Units of this type were designed and built primarily as large reconnaissance units, cooperating with larger ships of the French Navy. For this reason, they received relatively strong artillery weapons and were also characterized by high maximum speed. The Jaguar was built at a shipyard in the city of Lorient (Arsenal de Lorient) in France. Upon entering service, he was initially assigned to the 1st Toulon Squadron, but was relocated relatively quickly to the Atlantic - to the Brest base. Despite this, for a large part of the 1930s it operated in the Mediterranean and North Africa. He also performed patrol duties during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). After the outbreak of World War II, the unit sets out on patrol voyages in the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay, and also escorts convoys to and from Gibraltar. In May 1940, the Jaguar operates in the Dunkirk area, where it is sunk on May 23 by German torpedo boats.
