Panzerbüchse 39 (for short: PzB 39) is a German anti-tank rifle (anti-tank gunsmith) from the interwar period and World War II. The first prototypes of this weapon were created in the late 1930s, and serial production began in 1939 and lasted until 1941. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this weapon was up to approx. 1200 m / s, and the weight of the weapon was 12.6 kilograms. The Panzerbüchse 39 was developed and produced at the Gustloff Werke plants. It was a development of another anti-tank weapon already produced by this company - Panzerbüchse 38. Compared to its predecessor PzB 39 retained the same barrel and magazine, but was slightly lengthened with weight reduction. However, the changes did not significantly affect the effectiveness of the weapon on the battlefield. The weapon underwent its baptism of fire during the September campaign in 1939, and was later used in combat in France in 1940 and on the Eastern Front. PzB 39 remained in the line until 1944.
