Mikromir 35-011 German torpedo speedboat Schertel-Sachsenberg project

The Schertel-Sachsenberg unit is, in essence, a prototype hydrofoil of German production from the Second World War. Most likely, this vessel was approx. 12 m long and approx. 1 m wide. The weight did not exceed 4.5 tons. The drive was provided by a single 400hp engine, and the speed was up to 40 knots - perhaps a little more. The armament consisted of a single 533 mm torpedo. The presented hydrofoil was developed by Hans von Schertl and Gotthard Sachsenberg (from whom it takes its name). Especially the second of these designers is an interesting figure, because in World War I he won the title of a fighter ace with as many as 31 air victories. After 1918, he collaborated with Hugh Junkers, and in 1928 he was even elected to the Reichstag! However, from 1930 he started designing and building hydrofoils, working closely with Hans von Schertl. Of course, from the end of the 1930s, military factors were interested in these works, but they were never treated as a priority. Ultimately, only a few prototypes were built, which, however, did not survive the turmoil of World War II. It is also worth adding that the exact information about these interesting water and air vehicles is inaccurate.
