The Tiran-6 was an Israeli tank from the post-war period. The first vehicles of this type appeared in service shortly after 1973. The car was powered by a single diesel engine General Motors 8V-71T. The armament consisted of a single 105mm Sharir cannon and two 7.62mm and 12.7mm Browning machine guns. The genesis of the Tiran 6 tank dates back to the Yom-Kippur war that won Israel in 1973, when a certain number of T-62 vehicles (mainly Syrian) fell into the hands of the armed forces of that country. As it was a relatively modern tank at that time, the command of the Israeli armed forces decided to modernize the captured vehicles and adapt them to their own needs. Compared to the original T-62, the Israeli Tiran 6 has several important modifications. First of all, it received a different engine, a 105mm gun in place of the original 115mm gun, different secondary armament, much better optical devices and radio equipment. In addition, some of the Tiran 6 cars also received the "Blazer" reactive armor. Cars of this type began to be withdrawn from active service in the 1980s.
