Dragon 3583 M727 MIM-23 Tracked Guided Missile Carrier

The M727 is an American prototype mobile anti-aircraft system developed during the Cold War. The length of the vehicle was 5.97 meters with a width of 2.56 meters. The drive was provided by a single, 6-cylinder General Motors engine with power up to 212 HP. The range of the vehicle on the road was 480 kilometers. The M727 was armed with a triple MIM-23 Hawk missile launcher. The M727 was developed for the needs of the US Army as a mobile medium-range anti-aircraft system. The entities that are part of the BAE Systems defense concern were responsible for its development and production. In order to shorten the research and development work as much as possible, the M548 tracked vehicle was used as the chassis and its platform, which in turn was based on many components of the M113 armored personnel carrier. MIM-23 Hawk missiles were used as the main armament. The system, however, did not enter mass production, and work on it was stopped in 1971.
