Efforts were also made to increase the comfort of travel and the safety of passengers. Nissan Cedric achieved considerable success in the 1960s in Japan, which resulted in the continuation of its production and systematic modernization of the car. The last, 10th generation of the Cedric model (designation: Y34) was put into production in 1999 and was manufactured at the Tochigi plant in Japan. It was offered only as a 4-door hardtop, and the range of engines included 2.5 and 3 liter units.

After further stylistic and design changes, Gloria achieved commercial success in Japan, which resulted in its further serial production. Over time, it began to become more and more similar (stylistically and technically) to the Cedric model and was often treated as a variant of this model. The last, 11th generation of the Gloria model (designation: Y34) was put into production in 1999 and was manufactured at the Musashimurayama plant in Japan. It was offered only as a 4-door hardtop, and the range of engines included 2.5 and 3 liter units, exactly the same as the last generation of Cedric models.
