The PZL-62 (sometimes a different designation: PZL-55) was a design of a Polish fighter plane with a metal structure, in a low wing design with a landing gear retracted in flight, from the interwar period. The drive would be provided by a single motor Hispano-Suiza 12Z up to 1600 hp. The plane has never been tested, let alone entered mass production. It can be assumed that the on-board armament would consist of a single 20 mm cannon and 6 to 8 7.92 mm PWU FK wz.36 machine guns. PZL-62 was developed by Eng. Jerzy D±browski, in the summer of 1939, based on the design assumptions of the PZL-26 sports plane. The project aroused the interest of the Polish military because it contained several innovative solutions for those times. It was supposed to have, among other things: a landing gear that can be retracted in flight, powerful shooting weapons and the placement of fuel tanks in the wings. Production was expected to start in the summer of 1940. Perhaps it would be a machine comparable to the French Dewoitine D.520, but the outbreak of the war thwarted any plans for its production.
