Ostrów II is a modern Polish floating dock built in 1987. At the time of commissioning, the total length of the dock was 234.9 meters, with an external width of 53 meters and an internal width of 45.2 meters. The maximum submersion of the docked unit is 9.4 meters. The dock's carrying capacity is currently 36,000 tonnes. Ostrów II was built at the German MAN shipyard in Blexen, and after being towed to Poland, it was located in Gdańsk near Ostrów Island. The floating dock is used for repair works on the underwater parts of ships and ships that require their ascent. It is also invaluable in carrying out unit conversions and repairs. The method of using each floating dock, including Ostrów II, is based on the vessel's entry to the dock, and then slowly emerging from the dock, which lifts the ship with it. In the case of the presented dock, the ascent time takes about 3 hours. It is worth adding that in 2000, Ostrów II was extended by 20 meters and modernization was carried out, which made it possible to dock ships with a larger tonnage.
