Type 5 is a 75 mm tank gun from the World War II period, Japanese production. This cannon never entered active service in the Japanese army. The barrel length of this gun was 56.4 calibers, or 423 centimeters. The average initial velocity of a shell fired from this gun was up to 850 m / s. It is assumed that when firing armor-piercing ammunition, it would be able to penetrate an armor plate with a thickness of 75 mm at a distance of 1000 meters. The presented gun, if deployed into service, would probably be the most effective tank gun in the Japanese arsenal during World War II. It was characterized by a good initial velocity of the projectile fired and very good - compared to other Japanese cannons - armor penetration capabilities. The gun was based on the 75mm Type 4 anti-tank gun that entered service in 1944. It was assumed that the Type 5 gun would be mounted on the Type 4 Chi-To, Type 5 Hi-Ri (or Chi-Ri) tanks and the Type 5 Na-To tank destroyer. However, all these vehicles did not make it past the prototype phase.
