Merit 67201 Russian Navy OSA Class Missile Boat, OSA-1

Osa (also known as Project 205) is the name of a class of Soviet Cold War rocket boats that were built between 1960 and 1973. It is estimated that over 400 units of this type were created in total! The total length of the ship of this class is 38.6 meters, the overall width is 7.64 meters, and the full displacement of the Osa II subtype is approximately 240 tons. The maximum speed is around 40-42 knots. The on-board armament includes: two 30 mm AK-630 sets and four single P-15 Termite water-to-water missile launchers (SS-N-2 Styx).

Work on the Osa-class vessels began in the second half of the 1950s and was aimed at creating a successor to cheap, simple-to-build, but effective Komar-class boats. Finally, compared to their predecessors, the Osa I-class ships had reinforced artillery armament, took on board two more SS-N-2 missiles, and also had better electronic equipment with similar performance, such as range and maximum speed. In the course of production, the Osa II variant appeared, which differed from the Osa I subtype by slightly greater displacement and the fact that it had cylindrical rocket launchers for the P-15U missiles. These relatively successful units were used by the navies of many Warsaw Pact and Third World countries, including Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Poland and the GDR. It is worth adding that in 1999 there were still 100 ships of the Osa I and Osa II types in service.
