The GAZ-AA was a Soviet light truck from the interwar period and World War II. The vehicle had an overall length of 5.34 meters, a width of 2.04 meters, and a wheelbase of 3.34 meters. It reached a maximum speed of 70 km / h. The car could carry a load of 1,500 kilograms. Initially, the drive was a 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.3 liters and a maximum power of 41 HP, synchronized with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
The GAZ-AA was initially developed as a faithful, license copy of the American Ford AA truck. It was assumed that the GAZ-AA would be one of the basic trucks of the Red Army. Serial production of the car started in 1932 and lasted until 1950. It is estimated that over a million GAZ-AA trucks were produced in its course. It is also worth adding that in the years 1932-1950 the car was subject to modifications and changes. One of the most important was the introduction in 1938 of the GAZ-MM engine with a capacity of 50 HP. However, in the period 1941-1945, in connection with the hostilities, a radically simplified and impoverished version was produced without, for example, one of the headlights or with a wooden driver's cabin door. The GAZ-AA was replaced by the GAZ-51 vehicle.
